Aljubarrota
This event has been in existence for over 20 years, attracting thousands of people that annually walk the narrow streets that characterize the village of Aljubarrota, reliving medieval times.
In the August 14, 1385, the armies of Castile composed of 30,000 men, were bravely defeated by 7000 Portuguese troops, led by the strategic mastery of Nuno Alvares Pereira, in the fields of Aljubarrota.
This is the largest event that celebrate this historic date, highlighting the legendary figure of Padeira de Aljubarrota, Brites de Almeida, who is attributed the feat of annihilating a group of seven hungry Castilians with the shovel of her bakery.
In this event the atmosphere of medieval times is well replicated! You can watch medieval weddings, and religious processions, standing and horse riding tournaments, weaponry shows, medieval music, juggling and a lot of other spectacles that will blow your mind!
